does anyone know what year 5.0 full size Bronco manual tranny used OBD2 EEC-V control? I am currently using a 97 5.0 Explorer ecu in my 98 Ranger 5.0 but I have a manual tranny and would like to clear up those codes associated with the AOD tranny...Neil

1996 Bronco was EEC-V/OBDII. Also, the 96 5.0L F150/250 manual PCM is virtually identical to the 96 5.0L Bronco manual PCM.

Unfortunately, this simple PCM swap won't work. The 97 Ex uses coil packs controlled by the PCM but the 96 F & B used a distributor. The PCM from the F & B simply can't control the coilpacks and the engine will not start. I suppose you could rewire it and convert to distributor but there still could be other problems with emission component differences, speed sensor source, etc, etc.

A flash tuner calibration could be configured to turn off the automatic functions in your current Ex PCM. That's the simplest solution but it would probably cost about $400.

thanks for the info. I will take your advice and try to find someone to reflash the ecu
