just want to see what ppl think about this idea if ford does continue the ranger line

I'm all in for one. A direct fuel injected, turbo charged, 3.5L, DOHC, all aluminum engine that can womp out an amazining 300ft-lbs. Who wouldn't want that. If not an Ecoboost engine, than a Duratech. And if not that either, than a Duratorque engine (which I would really love to see happen in the US).

Read up on the 3.7L in the new 2010 Mustang. Smaller displacement than the 4.0L it replaced. But nearly tips 300HP and still gets awsome MPG's.

It does tip 300. It has 306, Ford pushed it as 1 extra horsepower over the Camaro and one extra MPG.

I'd buy that. I might even give up the 87 for that.

naaahh

motor swap mabey :P
if i ever do a motor swap with mine, im either gona get a diesel motor or a 302/289 I dont like computers in my car

GM had to sneak theirs up too after they released the numbers for the Mustang, they said the V-6 was originally underrated.

I love computers in my car. Makes it easier to find the problem. (Its behind the RH kick panel).

Ford did the same on the 6.7 Scorpion. They released there number first. GM said the new D-MAX was more powerful and Ford went "Oh shit we found another 50hp and 75 ft/lbs, sorry GM" or something along those lines.

Either way I'd love to see the next Ranger, or possibly (unfortunately dakota/taco sized) F-100 with the 3.7L Ecoboost

I would drop a Ecoboost in the Ranger in a heart beat. Only down side I see is that I would have to drop it and that is not me.

I might have to go get me one of them.

I'd keep the Ranger, but I might feel the need for one of them eco-boost 150s too.

Isn't the rangers ecoboost gonna be the 2L or the 1.6L I4 not the 3.5 V6?

I read somewhere power supposed to be like 270hp and 280 lb-ft @1750-4500 rpm for the 2L and 180hp and 180lb-ft for the 1.6L.
