ecm swap questin

i have a 89 2wd with the 2.9l my a4ld is shot i have a c5 out of a 83 4x4 that i am wanting to put in my truck cause i will be performing a sas with a early bronco axle, my question is do i need to get a new ecm and engine harness for a manaul because i am installing the c5 or can i just keep the one i have and it will work fine?

I did an auto to manual swap on a 90 bronco2 and I did not swap the computer, but the check engine light was on all the time.

the computer will look for a lock up signal, which you won't have and a second signal for what gear. not having these will set a cel. other than that it should be fine, based on my experiences. you can make jumper and harness things, or get a computer from an 87/88 auto or just pull the light bulb out of the CEL area.
