I have a 93 ranger 4 cyl and the truck will not run. With the ecm relay removed and the key is on I have power on all 4 leads so needless to say the relay can not do its job I also unpluged the computer and it is still the same way I thought that may have been the problem .
Does anyone have any ideas or have had this problem please let me know thanks, Nick

Yellow wire supplies power from eng compartment fuse box when ignition is turned on. This wire goes to the relay contact and also to the computer pin #1.

Rd/lt grn wire also goes to the fuse box to a power diode, and to the relay coil.

Red goes from the relay contacts to supply power to other systems, computer, injectors, other sensors.

Blk/wh wire is ground for the relay coil. If you have voltage on this contact, I would suspect the ground wire is open. Depending on how you checked it. Run a jumper from the contact to a solid ground(battery)and see what happens.

Having voltage on this contact with the relay out of the socket is kind of a puzzler. Possibly it is shorted to a hot wire, and open to ground at the same time, else if it shorted to hot it would blow the hot fuse. I don't know your checking methods, so can't really say.:)shady

I was checking from the relay terminals to the battery with a test light and all 4 are hot with the key on and computer unpluged. not sure what you ment by grounding the black/ white wire should the relay be in or out? I did loose power to one terminal by disconnect the mass air flow sensor if that is starting to make any sense to you thanks , Nick

That fusebox is removable.
I suggest you disconnect the battery, dismount the fusebox, invert it and inspect the wiring to those relay terminals. Won't take you very long. May have them melted together.

Next, I believe I have 93 schematics that will cover your wiring in that area. PM me your e-mail address.

Yeah, you're going to have to look at the bottom of the box. With the relay out of the socket, you should not have any power on the red or blk/wht wires.:)shady

Thanks for all the input I finally figured it out the idiot I bought the truck from took the battery out and put another in and yanked the 2 pin connector off the ground cable it pluged in under the fuse box and caused all kinds of a mess now I just have to put everything I tore apart back together thanks again, Nick
