If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
What is the appropriate amount of time to wait for a seller on Ebay to acknowledge the transaction?

I bought some AC Delco glow plugs off ebay from a guy with a 631 100% positive Feedback on the 14th. it is now the 18th and I have not had any responses to several emails asking if these have shipped or for a tracking number. I understand some items don't ship right away but I should have atleast had a message acknowledging the transaction.........

what gets my goat is for $12 more I could have walked to autozone and bought them and had them already.

That's pretty ridiculous. My mom sells a lot of stuff on eBay and she always makes it a point to answer people's questions right away. She checks her account every day and if someone has a question, she responds immediately. Now, some other people may not have as much free time as my mom, but I would expect them to respond within 48 hours at the most.

I'd go with 48 hours. After 4 days I'd contact e-bay/paypal and cancel the transaction.

Did they mention any time frame in the listing?

I ordered something a couple of months ago and there was a delay in getting it. They emailed me to apologize and explained that they had a family emergency. I send payment immediately and expect my item to be shipped as soon as possible. Most people require payment within 48-72 hrs so you have a right to know what is going on since it is well beyond that time period.

nope, just that USPS usually delivers 2-3 days after the item ships. i got his phone number from pay pal. no answer......

he may not have the funds I sent yet. according to my bank paypal just took the funds out this morning........ But a message acknowledging the transaction would be nice.......

specially since I pay with in an hour of winning an auction.

i order stuff and usually i dont get responses from sell but i just wait 3 weeks and if its not at my door i open dispute if seller continues to ignore me

Payment through paypal can take up to five business days before the payment goes through to the seller. It may be that he has not been paid so does not have any shipping info for you. However, that still doesn't mean he can't answer your emails.

I'm both a buyer and seller on ebay, and what sucks about being a seller on ebay is once you get paid via paypal, paypal puts a 21 day hold on the funds untill the item is marked received by the buyer, or feedback is left by the buyer, otherwise the seller has to wait for the funds to clear. This may be the case if the seller does not have the funds to ship and is awaiting payment to be received, but it may not be. Also, the seller may be out of town or had an emergency. This is my standard for ebay/paypal, after 4 or 5 attempted contacts and (more importantly) 7 days, I contact ebay for a unreceived item, this gives roughly 3 days for seller to ship and another 3-4 days for item to be delivered. By reporting an unreceived item (in the dispute category), Ebay will contact the seller and if by a resonable amount of time the seller does not respond, ebay will automatically draft the funds from his account and credit yours...hope this helps

well, they showed up when I went to get the mail. I don't what kind of emergency, unless you are in jail or in the hospital you can get access to a computer, a message acknowledging the transaction is all was needed to make me happy...... but i have them now, going to leave positive feedback for fast shipping.

I've only left neg. once and it was to the extreme. Other than that if I get the item within a week and it's close to advertised I give pos. Glad it worked out. They still should have responded.

I've only left one neg and one neutral. And like yours, Jay, they were well deserving of both.

Most of the time it's a smooth transaction. But there's always that one dumbass that tries to get away with something.

My neg. was weeks with out contact and still no product. The person then left me a very aggressive e-mail about why they got negative feedback. At that point I still hadn't received the product. I seriously mean weeks. I've had a few poor experiences but always I've/we've been able to work it out.
