Easy Way To Remove Rust.
1. Get Rusty Part
2.place Rusty Part In Glass Or Industrial Grade Bucket
3.fill With Tap Water, Make Sure Part Is Fully Submerged
4.add Ph Up Till High Ph Balance Is Acquired(get Test Tool From Pool Places)
5.get A Battery Charger
6.attach Neg - Cable To Rusty Part
7.attach Pos + Cable To A Stainless Steel Rod
8.place Stainless Steel Rod In Bucket Making Sure It Does Not Touch The Rusty Metal Part.
9.plug In Battery Charger In To Wall And Turn To 6amp 12 Volt Charge,use Should See Little Bubbles Coming Off Of Rod
10.make Sure Its In A Well Vented Area.make Sure U Are Well Protected Shit Burns If It Gets On You.dont Breath In Vapors
11. Sitt Back And Watch The Rust Leave Ur Small Metal Part.
12.when Done Part Turns Black, Use Nylon Brush,or Rust Colored Scotch Brite.

Part of me says cool i'm gonna do it, the other part of me is screaming 'woot woot woot' not safe, not safe. A really easy, and much safer, way would be to use a sand blaster.

never knew i could use that powder stuff i will try it,prolly works the same.

and yea dude it is safe,grinding takes away metal and so does sandblasting media. removing rust my way gets all rust no good metal.

I did the same thing with washing soda. Its electrolysis. You can take baking soda and bake it on a cookie sheet for 15 minutes at 300 degrees. That breaks it down from sodium bicarbonate to sodium carbonate. All it does is "cook" off one water molecule and one CO2 molecule from each sodium bicarbonate molecule.

you add the washing soda, sodium carbonate to water in a fairly low quantity, and hook up a battery charger. I forget the polarity.

I used it when i bought a rusty tool box filled with rusty tools. It salvaged a ton of Craftsman, MAC, Snap-On, and SK tools. I then took them to my bench grinder where i had a buffing wheel set up and made them shine again.

It is absolutely the best way to remove rust. It is completely nondestructive.

it's probably a cool way to remove rust from your auto parts... but you have to drunk out of your mind to try it.

u don't have to be drunk, i have been doing this for a couple of months on my amc suspension.not dangerous,and some parts u just don't want sand media around, like old all steel power steering pumps or brake wheel cylinders,shit i did my engine block in and old bath tub worked great ,now unless u want to go get some huge as blasting cabinet or make a mess using a siphoned feed blast container electrolosis works great.

ya, there aint nothing wrong with this, ive actually used this complete engines before, as long as its going to be rebuilt anyways this is great to strip everything down to the bare metal(rusted bolts etc)

They even did/showed this on the power block. I remember see'ing this on trucks. Only downside was he said it takes like 2 days for it to come out clean. Definatly worth it if it works.

It is very reuseable. The water and the electrode are consumed but at a very slow rate.


The fun part is lighting the hydrogen bubbles that form on the surface of the water......

You can do the same thing with molasses mixed 10:1 in water. Get it from a feed store. When your done just dump it down the drain.
