easily swapable motors

I have a 92 ranger 2.3l and it just doesn't have the power i need to compete with traffic around here...

anyway, what i'm looking for is a list of motors that will basically bolt into place of the 2.3 and work with my 5-speed, any help is appreciated

only option u have really is the turbo 2.3, and u will need todo all wiring associated with it, if u arent that mechanically inclinded it can be a REAL learnin experience

The ranger engine bay will take a number of different engines and there is plenty of info on this website about swaps...but there is nothing that will bolt up to the transmission without changing the bell housing other than another 2.3.

You might consider a turbo for your engine and it is not that much to add as long as you don't try to boost more than 5psi. I'd recommend considering this as opposed to a bigger engine because you get more hp when you need it and still maintain the gas mileage of the 2.3

Changing the rear gears to a 4.10 or higher will make your truck faster off the line...

hmmm, i wasn't really looking to do a turbo motor or even an aftermarket setup, guess i'll keep looking around for more info before i decide anything

its about all u can do, anything u do anyways ur gonna have todo wiring on the massive scale, the 2.3 was the most powerfull engine to use that bellhousing, short of building a 2.3 with the dohc volvo head and high comp pistons etc..... the only other way to build real respectable power is a turbo

A turbo is the only way to go, unless you wan't to have to change just about everthing to put a different engine in.
