I'm going to be pulling my engine in a week or so and I'm wondering what the easiest way to unbolt the drivers side motor mount on a 93 for ranger 2,3 is? as it seems to be buried under my intake manifold. Is it necessary to remove the intake mani?

wha?.. dude your motor mounts are underneath your engine..what would your intake manifold have anything to do with it? To get to them you have to do one of two things, unbolt your mounts from underneath your crossmember (requires a LOT of flexibility) or get a 1/2 or 3/8 drive ratchet with the right size socket and have at it (requires a good amount of extensions). The latter is the way I did it, I had about 6-10 extensions on my ratchet and came at it from above. Actually I had a cheaterbar style wrench I used first to break the rust and then I went at it with the ratchet.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear as to what i meant by under my intake manifold. its about 2 feet under it aha. but theres a bunch of junk in the way. and I was trying to figure out if with the right amount of extensions it would be possible to get at. And from what I understand it should be do-able. do you know what size nut it is??

get yourself an 18mm combination wrench, it's the easiest way to get those nuts off...

you don't have to take the motor mounts off to remove the motor.... just take the nuts off the top of the motor mounts. i did it with a 3/4 in ratcheting wrench. took about 3 minutes.

while you have the motor out replaceing the motor mounts is a good idea, it's very difficult to change the mounts with the motor in the truck.

yep I realise that. All I'm trying to do is see the best way to unbolt them from the chassis, as they looked awkward to get at. Thanks for the info, how long an extension did you need to use with your ratchet?

ratcheting WRENCH! couldnt figure an easy way of getting at it with extensions. the wrench worked just peachy.

it's actually an 18mm head, a 19mm or 3/4" might work but probably not if it's a 12pt

I've done it with a 3/8" ratchet and a standard socket and like I said a standard combination wrench, I don't have money for the ratcheting wrenches...

as much as you're working on things, how can you afford not to have a set? =]

I have my ways... actually I have barely touched my truck in the last couple months, the registration ran out at the end of last month... in a week or two it'll get attention, new exhaust and hopefully get in the center console finally...

to be honest the only ratcheting wrench I want for my truck is a 13mm swivel head for the bellhousing bolts, and maybe an 18 for the motor mounts, everything else I've been able to get around with just standard wrenches and sockets, I have a lot of patience...

do engine mounts swivel???

I've got my broken engine out of the truck, and the passenger side engine mount swivels. Is it supposed to do that? Also, the thin rubber pealed off the top circle. Is that a problem? The driver's side mount doesn't move.

If I have to replace it, how do I get it off? Where can I buy it?

the passenger side is blown out, you need a new one.

there is a second nut on the bottom side that holds it to the bracket
