Easiest 351w into a 98-00 Ranger?

Hello, so Ive got a 351w mated to a E4OD from a 92 econoline van, Im looking to get a ranger and possibly a donor explorer as well to aid with the swap, so my thinking is that if I get a 98-00 ranger with a 99-01 explorer, everything is plug and play, now.. Would I be able to just yank the 351 which is also EFI and plug it into the explorer wiring and run it? Or is there ways to drop the 351 with an E4OD without much trouble? Im looking for a clean swap with no christmas tree dashes. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Well the E4OD isn't quite the same as the 4R70W that would be in the Explorer, that may cause you some issues.

Also the 351 is tall and wide compared to a 5.0, so it won't fit in quite as nicely.

You are also looking at straddling the OBDI/II line, that may cause you to need extra sensors and such in various places. A 92 is more likely to be an AODE than an actual E4OD (same guts, different controls).

To run a 351 on a 302 computer you may also have to get the MAF calibrated and upsize the injectors to avoid rich/lean codes.

Since I dont have anything but a 351, what is the best option to try and fit one in a ranger? I can get the motor to run on a standalone that should be no problem, my problem would be the transmission, the M5ODR2 would certainly be a okay choice, do i have to modify a drive shaft for that? If i get the 1356 t case Ive read that youd have to notch the frame. and probably get custom front and rear shafts made. getting the gauges to work on from a standalone shouldnt be hard but the speedo is a problem.
