I haven't felt one since living in California. Not the thing you really expect living here so it took a bit to realize what it was.

Anybody else feel it? I was in the garage, just got done lifting weights and my head was kind of pounding with blood so I thought I was just getting light headed. Except the garage was moving and my old chevy was clanking and rattling in the drive.

Felt it here in Fairfield, Ohio (15 mins north of cincinnati) @ 5:30ish am. I was in bed and it woke me up from a dead sleep which is amazing my alarm clock doesnt even do that from time to time. At first I thought somebody was just shaken my bed to get up so I turned around n nobody there then I was like what the hell. Of course all my bobble heads were bobble'n and the deerheads on my wall were shake'n. Then I just figured that a jet flew over to low or somethin. I just wish there was a camera on my face from when I woke up it woulda been priceless. I was very dumbfounded. Never experienced a Quake before so I guess I can knock that off my list of experiences HAHA.

Epi-Center was in West Salem, Ill. 5.4 quake thats a good'n Ha Ha

I was on Okinawa in 1987 Camp Foster and we had a good one. I was a private and was on duty and had to empty out the squad bay at about 2AM--all these salty drunk bastards cursing me. We had metal freestanding clothes lockers and they were all "walking" around and the concrete was grinding and rumbling.

this one had me worried, not this one particularly but what maybe near. hell it still may be. oh well i guess.

ours on okinawa was about 11 or 12 pm in the after noon because my class was supposed to go on a field trip and i didnt so my parents let me cut.

I was awoken by my fiance with a phone call and told we had an earthquake. I told her she was full of shit and to go back to sleep.

She said the dog started barking about 30 seconds before everything shook; our dog never barks inside unless she is at the door and wants out.

When I heard it on the radio on my way to work, I had to call and appoloize to my fiance. Guess I am a deeper sleeper than I thought.

I didnt feel this one. But im in northern Mi now. Couple of years ago I was woken up by one. Its a really eary feeling.

I don't know why people think there aren't any earthquakes in the Great Lakes or Midwest. Yes, there are. They aren't all that rare.

And for those who think all earthquakes happen in California, look up the following bits of trivia:

1. How many of the top ten historical earthquakes in the Lower 48 occurred in California?
2. In what state in the Lower 48 did the largest historical earthquake happen?
3. Where was the largest earthquake ever recorded anywhere?

The truth is that California has a very large number of small earthquakes that don't do much. Occasional outliers occur, but they aren't the most damaging or the most energetic.

Mike, I've lived in the midwest for a good part of my life--1977-1979; 1984-1986; 1996-present--Iowa, Ohio, Indiana. This is the first time I've felt the ground move here. That's why I don't expect them here.

Of course, I could have been walking home from happy hour all the other times.
