Hi. i am considering gettin' a 1rst gen ranger 4x4, i would love to make one into a functional daily driver. i would like to get one and do the explorere ttb35 8.8 axle swap so taht I can get lockers for it and run bigger tires. My question is...how much fab work is needed? I will be completing tech school next year and have no dowbt I could handle the mechanical stuff, but not much of a welder or fabricator. Im wondering if I could do part of the work and have ashop do the fab work to save some money, or would i just need to let the shop do the whole thing? Replies are appreciated! Thanks!

You shouldn't need much or really any welding or fabricating if you're just wanting a DD... If you're looking for a lift, look in the for sale section, I've got one for sale.

i got my 1983 reg cab Ranger a couple of months ago and installed new body mounts with a 2" body lift. clears the 235/75x15 tires with lots of room to spare. i'll be putting on 31" tires on 16" wheels as soon as i get the 4.56 gears in the axles. i use it as my dd and for light towing.

my stock first gen clears 235/75r15s no problem the easiest mod for you to do is replace all 4 springs with explorer springsshould lift u about a inch or two
