Does anyone make or have done a rack and pinion conversion to an early model (1984) Ranger manual or power steering?

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work on an I-beam vehicle. The track width varies slightly throughout the suspension cycling, and would put too much stress on the rack. I'm sure you'd blow through seals due to compression and extension forces on it.

Yeah, it could cause a lot of problems. Also, rack and pinion isn't really better than recirculating ball gear box.
