hey so i am going to buy some new tires soon and i think i have decided on the goodyear duratracs. but i was wondering what u fellow ranger guys think. as far as i can tell they have good reveiws. but the one i saw said the his fuel mileage dropped cuz of them. can anyone with these tires tell me if this is true or not. also are the duratracs good for offroading (mud n rocks)?

thanks

I LOVE EM!!!! I got back from okinawa the begining of feb and was in MN for a big snow dump (17") and the truck was unstoppable as far as mud n rock I have yet to find out but I will find out :). I havent noticed much difference in mileage I got 12 pulling a 6x12 from MN to NC. I normally get 18-19 Hwy and Ive only lost about 50-60 miles per tank going from stock 245s to 33"s and thats expected.

X2. I love these tires! I'm in the desert so not too much mud but they do great on rock, sand and dirt. I like how quiet they are, especially at highway speeds. Maybe Scott5640 will wander over here and say his bit. I know he has been in the snow and mud with his so I'd ask him. As far as loss of gas mileage, that's to be expected if you are increasing tire size or going from a street tire to an aggressive A/T or mud tire. It all comes down to rolling resistance. Going from 31s to 33s on my truck with a regear put me about 1 mile less per gallon with these tires. Like I said tho, to be expected.

From everything I have seen, they are nice tires, for sure.
You might want to look at the Wrangler Territory, out of Canadian Tire. I feel their tread pattern looks better for mud... They are also cheaper, and get very comparable reviews. They are basically a Canadian Tire only variation on the Duratrac. Same tread plys, same sidewalls, ect.

If you are set on Duratracs, I would say do it up! They look awesome.
Here is a b2 with 33x12.50 Duratracs.

Nothing right now, but I have explorer leafs/coils, 4x4 ranger blocks, and some coil spacers to put in... hoping for 3-4" from that. No drop brackets or anything for the rad arms yet, so I am limited with what I can do right this moment (also a poor as F**K student, that doesn't help.) Also going to do a double-hockey puck body lift for 2" there, just epoxying the pucks together, then drilling holes through the middle. Someone here on TRS hooked me up with a free steering extension. =D

My only issue with the duratrac is they seem to lack horizontal spacing for digging into mud... every other shoulder lug is nice, but the rest of the tire is too road-friendly looking. On the territories you can draw a curved line from the center of the tire, all the way to the outside edge.

yah being a poor sucks. what sucks is working full time and still end up poor at the end stupid bills :annoyed:
luckly i should have just enough to get the duratracs (fingers crossed)

I'm running 235/85r16's studded on my 03 f350....just bought them this winter. Love them.

yeah i dont think you could find a better tire especially for the snow. Mine went everywhere in the snow. I wouldnt reccomend them for mud though, they dont clean very well sense the tread pattern is close together. but they do wear really nice, not loud at all and have good sidewall.
