Dura spark so intimidating

intimidating and duraspark.

something i never though i would see together

Yea my 83 was real easy plug and play the only wire spliced is the green for coil neg. The 85 has different connectors and guys are allways fighting with it. The distributor wires are simple but those two wires for power to the module trip guys up. If you isolate the red/ltgreen wire and run that to coil pos and red on the module that is key on hot. For the start circuit red/ltblu you must cut and splice the wires as directed. What the white wire does is retard the timing for a quick start you might even try not using it at all and see what it does. If you cut and splice the wires as in the diagram it should work. I never wired a 85 but it looks like the ltgreen wire is probably the culpret.

IDK I was trying to find what would cause your condition and the ltgreen wire goes from the lighting circuit to the computer. Have you completely removed the computer harness and what tranny do you have. Is your charging system working correct by turning the lights on is it takeing power away from the ignition. Do a no/load and load test and see what the charging system is doing.

I have removed all the computer stuff including the harness. As far as I know the charging system is working fine. If The truck is running and I turn the lights on it dies, but if I unplug the red/blue wire on the solenoid when the truck is on and turn the light on it stays running.

Yea I saw that I just dont know what could be happening. The red/blue wire should only be hot with the key on start nothing else should be happening with that wire. Do you have it wired according to the second color wiring diagram with the wires cut and spliced as it shows.

I suppose it cold be the module first you need to check what the wires are doing. turn the key on and measure voltages and see what happens when you turn on the blinkers and lights. The light green wire goes to the multifunction switch. The weird one is the start wire red/blue. check it for shorts and power when you turn the lights and blinkers on. Do the same at the module unplug it and test for shorts and power when you flip the switches. If all the wires test good then it is likely the module. You may get lucky and find a couple for cheap at the bone yard but even new are not all that expensive at autozone I think I paid around $35.00 new a few years back.
