I have a Dura spark? (TFI) distributor off a 1986 2.3 liter efi and would like to know if I could use it with a carb engine. It has no vacuum advance. I found the wire schematic to get spark but don't know if it will advance there are two wires that run to the computer I believe one is the (PIP) and the other is the spout
Can I run this efi distributor with out changing everything Thanks in advance.

That's a TFI distributor. Won't work with the Duraspark ignition.

tech help needed

Can I use a TFI distributor on a carbureted engine? They list the same distributor for both models.
What distributor do I need for a 84 2.3 liter engine?

you can use that distributor, but you can't do it with duraspark.

What parts are needed to complete my exchange? And will it advance with the EFI module or do I have to get a new one. I have seen people talk about a blue module. What is the difference?
I guess my biggest concern is that it won’t advance!!!

I have bench tested the sensor, coil and they are good.

Please inform me of all of the parts from the TFI distributor to the key switch.

Thanks for any info.

I haven't done a Duraspark on a 4 cylinder before but it can't be any different than on a 2.8. You need the Duraspark distributor (in your case, probably one from a 4 cylinder '78 Pinto will work,) the Ignition module, the round type coil, and it helps to have the wiring harness that goes from the distributor to the ignition box and also to the coil.

The blue module thing is important because the blue label that was on factory Duraspark ignition modules indicated that it was Duraspark-II... there is also Duraspark I and some other varieties like the ones AMC used on Jeeps that may or may not work. If you don't already have this, just get one for the same year of car as the distributor you use.
