Dump pipes

Do dump pipes on a 3.0 ranger sound good? Ive been wondering How it would sound if I did it on my truck.

Idk what that even is lol. I'm talking like turn down after my flow 40. right now im running stock piping out to behind the passenger tire at a 90 degree angle. I'm talking cutting off at the closest hanger to the muffler and welding a turndown tip onto it.

Im gunna do mine like that when I get a new muffler, I ripped my exaust off once and I don't wanna do it again

supposedly the 3.slows sound good if you just do a down turn after the cats. haven't tried it myself though

personally i think dumps dont sound good at all on the 3.0 and it puts all the exhaust under your truck. i would keep what you have right now and after the muffler run 2.25 out to just after the bend to clear the axle. then go to 2.50. the last foot of exhaust piping should be 3 inch with a 3.5 tip. you wont be disappointed.

I've never heard dumps that sounded worth a shit on anything, at least inside the vehicle. YMMV.

Is this what you mean? You definately lose some low freq with the shorter piping. The drone inside the cab is not bad at all, suprisingly... As long as the muffler is as far back as possible.

i put a flowmaster 40 on mine and dumped it right before the rear axle and there is no sound difference i just did it like that so you dont see the exhaust

There was a kid at my school who did that with his ranger, it was really low and sounded pretty good.

i've done that with my 2.3l with a stockish muffler. the drone was horrible i immediately welded the tailpipe back on.

I know I'm a little late with this, I have the flowmaster 40 dumped before the axle and I want to do it differently... It's not as low as I'd like, but it does sound good and can turn some heads if you stomp it, just my .02
