Who was the genius who put the slave cylinder inside the transmission? Has anybody figured a way to rig a cable? or something. No , I haven't even looked too hard at the trans. Its time is coming. Also, is one of the slave's modes of failure to not allow the clutch to completely release ? When I finally do this job, where to get the best, never hafta go there again slave cylinder? TIA

No, you can't rig a cable for your HYDRAULIC clutch.

It is in there to protect it from damage from road debris.

The slaves ONLY mode of failure is to not release the clutch. (What do you think it is, a computer?)

And it doesn't matter what you get, it will eventually fail again and should be replaced every time the engine and trans are separated.

I am partial to Napa brand and Perfection, they make good ones.

My sons friend replaced a slave cylinder in my garage. It leaked, he undid every thing and redid it again. It still leaked. He took everything back apart only to find the new slave cylinder was bad. Third time was the charm.

Oh you are a bundle of joy you are. Thank you
very much . I am quite capable such feats all by my oncet, I dont need any help :D

I was just asking about the clutch. If not the slave , then the linkage? I thought I read something about this some where. Oh well. :dunno::dunno:

What linkage? There isn't linkage. It's fluid pressure pushing on a lever to release the pressure plate.

After thinking about it, you could always swap in a TK. Those had external slaves.

If your going to replace the slave you might as well replace the master to. Unless you just replaced both and one failed. Don't be surprised if you replace only one and the other fails.
