I'm looking to buy some duff arms, and I'm wondering how good they are. I know they make good stuff and some hd eb parts. I was looking at the duff arms as they look beefy and are a lot cheaper then skyjacker arms. I've googled them and read about breakage probs on explorers but not sure if they were the new style or not. My rig is low slung and the arms will more then likely come into contact with rocks and whatnot. I don't do the hardesy trails but I will be doing some decently hard trails, and want something durable and yet safe to drive the family down the interstate with

What's yalls opinions? Thanks guys

I beat the snot out of mine when I had the ttb. Still beating on the fullsize arms. I have a friend that has a set with over 30K miles on them with the original heim.
I dont think you'd go wrong with them but lots of guys will jump in and say build your own. If you can and have confidence in your work then go for it, you will save some cash.

I do know that the Duff arms are going through a revamp and a new style will be hitting the shelf soon.

PS-I will ship your stuff Monday if you PM me your address.

anything will break with enough abuse, whether it's homemade, duff, or skyjacker.

i agree with thatguy, build your own if you can. you could buy a nice welder with $600.

another option may be the stonecrusher arms. they only extend you're arm a foot or so, but it'd be better than drop brackets.....plus they're cheaper

i think that's the route i'll end up taking eventually. but i'm gonna use some DOM tubing to make them a little longer. plus, they need some gussets on them.

Duff arms look very beefy, and should hold up fine for what you are doing. If you start to notice fatigue cracks after some hard wheeling plate/weld the crap out of them to reinforce them for severe duty.

Like Eddie said, anything will break under a heavy foot, a drunk mind and crazy driving :icon_thumby:

For what you describe though, I doubt you'll break them.

Both Duff and Skyjacker make excellent products, and breakage is usually due to other factors besides just hard wheeling (missing pinch bolt, jumping, etc).

Greg (97trailrigdd) has them and they are nice. I'd love to have some. I just can't see myself ever spending $6-700 on them. I'd run stock arms before throwing away that kind of money.

I would build my own arms but with the new job and baby, I don't have time these days. Hell I have a bumper and tail light boxes I aint even finished.

Pm sent thatguy

Also I have the trans xmember that doesn't hang down like other b2s I've seen. Its almost flush with the bottom of the frame rails. Will the duff xmember hang down the same or lower?

The x-member bolts to the inside of the frame mounts. From where the tranny bolts to it, it is 3.5" tall.

This is also being redesigned with the arms to incorporate a skid plate for the tranny / t case.

ive been running mine for a while, no problems to speak of...

Jon I didn't know yours were Duff arms.

OK. I knew the rest was from the Ex.
