Has anyone thought of doing a flexible duct from say the front valance to the inspection opening on the Mazda M5OD Transmission. As heat is the main reason these fail early or have heard that is the main reason these fail because they are inside the hot transmission.

Of course you could just take the cover off and I would think make a screen so nothing can get up in there. But would a duck to it cool it off any better or would it really make a difference.

Looking at replacing the clutch and slave again. Really can't complain. Going to be the fourth replacement in 21 years. Also found out that the clutch set I got from Autozone is warrantied for life. Always knew the slave was but didn't think the clutch disk was.

Not sure where you read that heat was an issue with clutch slave, never read that before.
Not sure I would believe it because of the number of manual trans Rangers and the number of failed slaves, early failure does happen but certainly not a high incident rate, manufacturing defects would account for a few of those, leaks, run dry, so there wouldn't be many left that would or could be assigned to an overheating issue.

And not sure how the warm metal parts, clutch disc and pressure plate, would like very cold air in the winter after shut down.

I've never heard of heat being the culprit. The most sensible theory I've seen is crappy, dirty, water-logged fluid.

Frankly, manual transmissions are not subject to that much heat.

Thanks RonD and Adsm08. Like I said I "heard". Not the most reliable sources all the time. I will say that my uncle that lives in Yuma, Az had really bad luck with 2 from different sources in a 6 month period. Just a idea I had. Sometimes not very good ones. Lol
