Dual Sport bike .... any of you guys ride them?

i've got a 05 DR650se Suzuki
im looking for a new set of tires, about 60-70% on road, 30-40% off road.
what do you recommend?

Tires depend on how/where you ride. My tires are 80%/20% on/off road tires. Will be looking to get a set of Dunlops, maybe Bridgestones, this summer. I usually decide on the ones that I like the tread pattern best.

03 XR400, I run offroad tires, Pirelli MT16 rear, and either Scorpion Pro or MT32 front (all Pirelli fronts are DOT approved though).

I was thinking of getting another set of rims and putting on some more street oriented tires for commuting though, haven't decided if it's worth the cost yet.

i was thinking on doing the same seeing at i usually ride in the city. so a pair of street tires would be nice but i would still like to have a set to go off road with. but 2 sets of new tires, and 2 new rims... thats looking like $500-$900 bucks.

That's the part that's holding me up. I could buy an old bike (Nighthawk or something) for around a thousand I reckon. Probably get better mileage than my XR also, I only get about 30 as it is (kind of strung out on the highway), so I'd have to get another chain, sprockets, tires, rims, brake rotors. Gets kind of expensive.

Pffff... wheels are around $400 each, tires around $100 each, brake rotors $70 each, sprockets and chain $150..... yeah I could get another bike for around the same price and not have to switch everything over when I want to go on the streets, and have a bike better suited to the street.

Currently I run Kenda K270's. They are 50/50 tires and are good both on or off the road. But with me traveling a lot more on-road, my next set is Dunlops D607. The D607 are 90 on-road / 10off-road.
