Hey all, been awhile.

Ive got an issue with my 88 BII auto. (NO CATS)

Runs rougher than hell with much less power. Can only slightly feed the gas to her or it farts and stumbles. It seems to drop a cylinder and run like crap, although when I try a different plug in the wire it has fire. The old plug will be wet like it isnt firing at all though.

Ive tried different plugs, plug wires, new cap, and cleaned up the button with some fine sandpaper but the issue is still there. I start it up without the plug in to blow out the cylinder before trying different plugs too.

I was told it could be a stuck/broken valve, but this truck is only driven in 1st-2nd gear in the woods for getting firewood. (it literally doesnt get driven fast enough to hit 3rd) It doesnt get over revved, hasnt been over revved, and rarely gets run over 20mph in its duties. It probably gets driven 15 miles a year total off road. I wouldnt think Id lose a valve in this manner, but anything is possible I guess. The engine is mint, as it was my daughters ride before she whacked a tree on the drivers A pillar, crushing the firewall and rendering it totaled for road use. Ive used it for firewood for 4 years before this issue started happening.

I have a hunch the injector is fukt on that cylinder, and it isnt getting good (or any) gas spray but have no handy spare at the moment. Could a clogged injector act like what Im explaining?

Quite possibly one of my fuel pumps are toast and its just not getting good flow, but it seems to be mainly this one plug thats acting up. Maybe the timing slipped a little at the dizzy? Dunno, but Im going to look further at it once the back yard dries up. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks for any replies,
Bondo

What cylinder did the wet plug come out of? Compression test would give more answers for sure. If #6 cylinder, could be your FPR flooding it out, check the vacuum line for raw fuel after it's been ran. Fuel pressure would be good to know, too.

Its the center plug on the passenger side Pete.

( #2? )

No comp tester so Im shooting blind here...

When I stick a fresh plug in it, there isnt a whole lot of improvement either, but a little bit for a day maybe.

Oh and it dies out a couple times while getting up to temp, and shakes pretty bad if that is helpful.

Well the AIC seems to work, the idle changed when I unplugged it.

When I took the vacuum off the FPR, the idle jumped up too. I guess its working too...

Still no compression tester to see what Ive got there though.

Well I got around to frigging with the woods buggy after the monsoon....

Seems Im not getting jack squat for fuel pressure at the rail. I checked the valve after priming the pumps with the key on and it only flows, not squirt. While running it does the same.

Both pumps are working if I recall, (too many 2.9s on the property LOL) but I'll double check it again once I get another set of hands. Gotta check into the filter too.

I'll report my findings later.
