currently dropping the oil pan on my truck. and all i have to say is its a PITA. anyone have any special way of getting around the tranny cooler lines to pull it off. i broke the motor mounts loose and jacked the motor up. but i really dont want to have to pull it to change the oil pump.

I was wondering the same thing. Just pulled my tranny for front seal/torque converter replacement, and was considering changing to a high flow oil pump, then I looked at how much more work that was gonna be and..... Maybe another time when I'm not feelin lazy.

Anyways, as for any special ways around them.. I don't know any. But looking forward to some other responses for more knowledge.

i managed to use a jack and block to jack the motor up to get the clearance to remove the bolts. now my pans loose and well off. just cant get it out to replace the pump i cant get the clearance from the tranny. and the motor cant go any higher. gonna put it on hold for now till next weekend cause i have to to study for my A8 engine performance certification. plan for next weekend is break the tranny loose from the motor and pull the motor up thru the engine bay to get some clearance. which also means i gotta break the exhaust loose and probably pull the radiator too.

You probably have to unbolt the pump while inside the pan, then slide the pan off.

im not sure that im getting enough clearance to get into the pan to unbolt the pump. ill give it a shot in the morning to see what i can do. if not we're pulling the motor up and out next weekend. that way i can inspect the pump and possibly replace it. and also inspect the whole bottom end.
