88 2.9 2wd extra cab, having a hard time locating a replacement driveshaft flex disc, found a reference to a BMW/Beck Arnley part (#103-2103) that is claimed to be a replcement. Anyone have experience finding one of these? Not wanting to swap to a one piece shaft at this time.

(picture not actual part, only one I could find for reference)

I have never seen a rag joint in a drive shaft. That doesn't even seem like a good idea.

You are probably looking at the same cost to swap shafts as you are to replace that stupid thing anyway, might as well do it.

The guibo works well and is fairly durable in the BMW application. The one for my car is about 40$.

i have never seen one on a ranger. i wonder if someone else swapped it in because that's what they had available at the time...

IIRC, the last vehicle I saw one of them on was a Merkur XR4Ti.

yup my bmw had the same set up, worked great even with a pumped up webered motor. as well the older cars used the same thing for steering couplers to isolate vibration in the steering wheel, and to acomadate body to frame flex differnces

If the giubo is just cracking, then you have time. The bolts are in steel bushings. They work pissah , they will work until it looks like a ball of string and the D shaft clunks like its about to break. They dampen drive line vibration which is a big deal in your bimmer at 125 mph. On a Ford pick up ????
I know of 2 sizes. My 528e takes the small one. The bolt sizes are differnt too The small one takes a 10mm and the big one 12mm Try looking on line at someplace like Parts Geek. If they aren't listed as Ford parts look at 1988 Bmw 528e and 88 Bmw 535i

I've seen rangers with those... It's not that alien.

Never heard the name guibo... BMW calls them flex couplings.

It is giubo, named for the guy who invented them for Alfa Romeo in the 50s. :D
