Can someone offer suggestions as to where I can get a Driveshaft center support bearing?

I have a ''96 Mazda B2300, 4cyl, with a 2 piece drive shaft.

The bearing itself is fine, but the rubber surrounding it is going south I think. I''m getting a funny vibration at between 60-70 mph and it shakes the heck out of the stick. (As well as the rest of the truck). I crawled under it today to check u-joints and they seem fine, but I was able to lift the dhaft about 1/4" or so and see light through the rubber of the bearing.

Any tricks to fix it, or parts dealers that carry them for a reasonable price would be greatly appreciated. (My local Ford dealer wants $116.00 for a stock one, and I have found a place that makes poly-urethane replacements for $123.00 total, but need to conserve cash right now). Thanks in advance!

I can't remember it's one piece, or if the bearing is separate from the rubber. When I replaced mine, the parts store had it for about $20.

Oh and BTW its called the carrier bearing, that may help.

really, mine was like $50.00 at advance
it has a big name at the parts store
dont quote me but i think its "main driveshaft center support bearing"
its all one piece

Yeah, I've heard tem called lots of things... Center support bearings, support bears, carrier bearings, and my favorite as of late "the !@#$%^& bearing!".

Anyway, found one here:
http://www.arizonadrivelines.com

for $35 plus shipping.

Seems like none of the local parts houses, Kragen, Pep Boys, Autozone, etc no longer carry them. What a hassle.

So as soon as it arrives I'm going to swap it out along with the u-joints, and see if that helps my vibration problem. I'll keep you posted.

Wow, they had them at all the parts stores I called when looking for one..... Well good luck with it.

Hey Sunk, what was the ID of your bearing? Just out of curiosity.

I have no clue..... Around 1.25"? It was a long time ago, and that's just a total guess.

Hey Mirage,

I just replaced mine in my 88Ranger 4X4, the center u joint was gone also.

Merles Auto parts here in Tucson has the bearing, it is mounted in hard rubber. $30.00 or so.

hey 88,

Thanks for the info. I'll keep Merles in mind. I'd be interested in pictures of the part, as you say "solid rubber" in your post and has me curious.

Mine has been running pretty well, although I still have a vibration at 35-45 mph that's really messing with my mind.

why not swap a one piece drive shaft into it and eliminate the carrier bearing all together?

Did you replace it yet? Did it fix it? I am having a crazy vibration also and I have some play in the center support bearing. I tore it all down only to find the one from advance auto was too big (bearing) so I had to put it all back together.

yeah, the bearing usually cost me around 40 i think. i had a 97 ranger and i swear everytime i turned around that bearing was goin out
