It doesn't seem to want to do much, it's the lumbar style seats (1st gen)

anyways, i don't really have much choice in seat position, it only slides forward/backward about 2 inches in each direction (my bronco 2 has wayyy more adjustment) and the seat will not fold completely forward to allow someone to get in the back jump seats on the drivers side.

a friend of mine says they're all like this, ford apparently made it a big F-U to people needing to get in to the backseat, making them use the passenger side only, not only does this sound completely stupid, but even if it was true how would he know lol.

would someone like to shed some light on this for me? thanks in advance.

some light? sounds like you're seat sucks...

I have tons of movement with my seat, now it doesn't slide/fold as far as the passenger side, but its still enough, and I have plenty of adjustment. Keep in mind it can't go TOO far because of the steering wheel, which my seat won't even hit it because its limited.

Your tracks are buggered up. Take the seat out, take them off, and lube them up.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious

I was looking on someone to shed light on a way to get the seat the perform correctly. I've sprayed crc power lube on the tracks and still no dice. Looking down under the seat, I don't see anything thats preventing the unit to slide forward on the track

5 bolts (don't forget the seatbelt) and it comes out, obviously it will be much easier to inspect with the seat out of the truck. I would highly suggest doing that.

Thanks adsm08 and zman, ill probably rip the seat out on Sunday. A little weary about ripping it out though. Two of the four bolts are heavily rusted

Ok, three things.

1) CRC Power lube couldn't make a ball of grease slippery. That stuff sucks. BG Inforce.

2) You need to do more than just spray a little lube on them. Take them off and slam them around, I've had this problem before, you gotta get rough with it.

3) Spray the under side of the bolts down really good and then get some heat on them. Melt the thread locker and get those bad boys freed up a bit before trying.

Ya, if you have access to a torch and an impact, thats gonna make taking those bolts out much easier. I've learned that you're less likely to break a bolthead off with an impact than doing it by hand, and heat just makes it that much easier.

Adsm08, i only used crc power lube because i got it for free from work, ill have to ask them about that bg stuff, we only use bg MOA, bg throttle cleaner, bg fuel system cleaner and all of their auto tranny additives.

Ive got oxy-acetylene to use, but i dont think ill be able to get the torch in there w/o scorching my carpet up, which is immaculate (as is the rest of the interior) maybe ill try butane, think my snap on torch style soldering iron could get them hot enough?

Also, ive got a snap on 3/8 electric impact i could use, i dont have air at the house and i dont really like bringing my car into the shop at work, management tends to bitch about it.

you didn't mention what specifically you were looking for light on... be it a different seat that would function better, how to fix it, how to get your friends into the back seat easier... there was no actual question, or implication for the information you were looking for, other than "can anyone shed some light?"

i disagree with the order of the last item, other than that, agreed! best thing i've found was heat THEN penetrating oil, the heat causes everything (including the little bit of air that's in the threads) to expand, when you hit it with penetrating oil, it shrinks fast, and sucks air (and oil) in with it... a whole bunch of heat/cool cycles will bring a LOT of oil in, and can free up even some of the most stuck bolts int he world...

i would heat it from the bottom, they should go through the floor and be accessable from outside of the vehicle, though the heads will be on the inside... just be careful with the heat and you're carpet should be fine... oxy torch, btw, will heat it faster, and more percisely than a butane torch, a butane torch will cause everything around it (including your carpet) to heat up

Ya sorry i should have specified, heat them from the bottom.
