I have a 2003 Ranger Edge extra cab with the 60/40 seats. The driver's seat bottom cushion is worn.

Is there a way to fix this without 150.00 bucks at an upholstery shop? Can you just add foam? How easy is it to remove the cushion material from the seat bottom?

On a side note what year explorer buckets are a direct bolt in?

I don't know about the 60 40 seats but it takes about fifteen minutes to remove the uphostery on the bucket seats if they are out of the truck. if the seat pad is dished you might have a broken spring in which case you should another fifteen to do the repair. It might seam a little daunting if you have never repaired a seat before but once you get it apart it's pretty simple.

if I remeber right but i dont thing the 60/40 bench seats have springs, atleast in my 01 I have a steal pan and no springs in it.

That is what I see under mine, a pan. I do not see how you would get the upholstery off without cutting, tearing or otherwise destroying it.

Im to going off memory but I think there are some plastic pieces sewed to the fab. these plastic peices should just unclip.

there are some plastic pieces securing it, u can remove them by unclipping and add foam, i did it on mine. added it to the bottom, and to the side shoulder in the back
just dont get too crazy with foam cuz u wont be able to put it back or the seat will look too high. preferably glue it to the existing foam.
and remove the seat from the truck of course lol

from when i cleaned my 03 60/40 units

for the bottom half there are plastic strips that you roll under and slip on to tabs under the seat pans, they are hard to see in the pics but one you look at yours you know what i mean. The back have two plastic strips that interlock at the bottom.. Now you have to watch the backs when you pull the covers off due to a very strong velcro strip holding them in just hold the velcro when you pull so it does not separate from the foam

Excellent response. Just what I needed. Are the covers machine washable?

The pictures are a real help. I appreciate you taking the time to post them.
