Driver window FAIL

My driver window worked for the most part when I first bought my truck, but a month ago it required my help to go all the way up. By that I mean I had to pull it up from the bottom all the way to the top. I know the regulator and the motor work but I believe the teeth on the actuator arm that lifts the window are slipping off the motor's gear. Obviously the window is binding but I can't really fit into the door to better diagnose the problem or do anything really. And also the door panel is a HUGE pain to get off, I just let it hang earlier today. How do I go about this?

wow.. i'm glad you ask a window question in the v6 forums--> 4.0 liter...

if you know the motor and everything works right.. then just grease everything down good and try it.. go from there.

Good afternoon,

It has been a few years since I worked on my 93 Explorers window, should be the same. If you can physically pull the window up or down, you will need to remove the motor. If I remember right 2 screws are visible, 1 is not. But there is a dimple in the sheetmetal that you need to drill out, large enough to remove the last screw holding the motor. Opening the motor will probably expose crushed nylon like substance and grease. Three nylon gear plugs (HELP part number 74410, Have spares) will need to be replaced or if worse the nylon gear (ACI or Siemens part number 84635, complete with the gear plugs will be needed. Have spare also)

Reverse for assembly

Good luck
