Wondering if anyone could tell me if the driver and passenger side cv's are the same length, minus the inner portion that goes into the diff housing. Wondering if I would be able to take a passenger side cv, separate the inner-most section and just swap it with the inner-most section of a driver side cv. Money is tight and it would save me a great deal of money if it would work. I don't see why they would be different.

Edit: This is for a '95-'01 explorer/'00-current ranger front end.

Need an actual build date on the truck. Should be in your drivers door jam. But from what I am reading all the part numbers are different for right and left.

The part numbers different because the inner ends are different.(I think that is the only reason) I'm taking a gamble and buying a used one to swap the inners. I'm 99% sure it will work but I will let everyone know.

P.S. The build date on my truck won't match the axles I'm using since I swapped over to the newer style. Thanks for your reply though.
