My brother is getting a new exhuast on his truck tomorrow. In doing so, we had to change one of the manifolds to get rid of the OEM warm air choke manifold. Obviously the pipe won't bolt up to that side now. The exhuast shop is less than 4 miles away. Would he be alright to drive it there? The engine is a 360. It's all sub 40mph there too, no highway, and two stop lights.

I would try to engineer a soup can to direct it into the exhaust just to keep it from melting things. Or at least divert it out of the engine compartment. Otherwise go for it

Unfortunately the rest of the exhaust is about 12" away. We had to do a lot of engine work and it was in the way. I'll let him know about directing it down more. It's pretty open where it dumps. He doesn't have PS, power brakes, fuel lines, or anyhthing in the general area where it dumps.

I'd go for it. Just keep the windows open and shut it down if you get stuck at a stop.

as long as theres nothing the exhaust can burn, go for it, i ran a ranger with open headers for a couple months before.

Guess that depends on how well you know the local police!!!!!:icon_thumby:

The way FE's are designed, you WILL burn exhaust valves if the seats haven't been replaced with hardened ones, but otherwise, shoot the moon. :)

In 4 miles, at under 40 mph??

^^^ I agree, my feeling is the valves and seats won't get hot enough to worry about.
