My 94 mazda b3000 manual window regulator is finally stuck. I need to replace it and i saw the regulator is rivted on. ANyone have any tips before I start drilling away?

Do you replace it with bolts, or rivots? If it needs to be re-rivoted back on, where do I buy these rivots?

Why is the regulator stuck? Can you put grease on it to free it up? My 92 has manual windows and I never had the regulator freeze nor have I ever seen on freeze up. But if yours is froze and you need to replace it drill the rivets out at an angle not square to the rivet. The rivets can be bought at any autoparts or hardware store. You can use bolts but the rivets are alot easier.

I know we keep the window regulator rivits in stock at the dealership i'm working at.

For removing rivets, I have found using a small round punch, and punch the center out and then take a wedge head punch and punch the remainder off always works the best for me. That way you never have a rivet just sitting there spinning. Just make sure the round punch is the same size or slightly smaller then the center of the rivet, and make sure when you're using the wedge punch that your hitting it in a direction where if it slips it will not cause damage to anything. Also, wear safety glasses, if you're drilling or using the punch, nothing sucks more then metal in your eye.

I had to do this a few years ago on my 93 Saturn. I drilled out the rivets and replaced them with bolts, made it easier to line everything back up and then tighten them down. I used a bolt like this http://www.mcmaster.com/#92220a185/=1s1pff with a washer on either side and nylock nut. The trick to removing rivets is to drive out the center pin and use a center drill to drill out the rest.

just change the doors its a helll of a lot easier to to
