Okey got some old vids that I put on youtube and lost my disk that had them on it. Any way to download them back off there?

I've done this a few times using the webservice from keepvid.com. It's free, just paste the youtube url into the keepvid search bar and click download (ignore everything else on the page about buying and downloading the application). The website will trigger a warning on your machine because it uses a java app to do some processing and in a few seconds it will serve up a list of several video resolutions you can download in .flv (flash video format).

After download, you need to find another application to handle the conversion of the .flv file into something more useful like .avi (alternately, VLC media player is a great option if you just want to watch the video)

The keepvid.com usage is shown in this video:

Good luck recovering your vids!

If you have Firefox you can also use the VideoPark plugin to download videos from some websites (including YouTube).

i just copy the flash video file out of the temporary internet files folder and convert it to .avi
