My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
See sticker below. GAWR Rear is 2570. But shop manual says 2750 for all rear axles. What gives??
This truck must have payload package because GVWR is D (fourth VIN digit code) which is over 5000 and this is reflected in the GAWR of 5060. Versus mine 4920 (code C), no payload package (same truck though as to basic config).
I'm having a really hard time finding the GAWR Front for mine. Not only that now I have two different numbers for the rear.
The big doc alwayFlOoReD sent has some front weights but not for Ranger at least I searched it can't see it in there.
Interested to know if GAWR Front is always the same, anyone with '97 gen truck if they can tell me their GAWR Front and Rear that would perhaps help, maybe fronts are all the same too.

Does your spring code have anything to do with it? Yours is MX......M denotes front — 5310 spring (Econoline, F-150, F-250, Ranger) X is rear...X — 5560 spring (Ranger)

That's not my sticker... that's right about the spring codes, they list them in the shop manual, there are a lot of possibles. I don't have a sticker that's why I'm going though all this. That sticker was posted by a TRS member, they'll probably recognize it, I just didn't mention whose it is.
But I don't know my spring codes either and I'm wondering, is there any way I can find the spring codes on my truck? They're not in Oasis report. Maybe there's a stamping on them somewhere?
I got all the rest of the sticker info except the GAWR Front (the Rear I'm pretty sure would be 2750).
If I could find the spring codes, then maybe I could correlate that to the GAWR's.
The spring codes can have to do with GAWR's because even though -all- axles have capacity 2,750, you usually don't see that as the GAWR Rear because of other considerations; the GAWR has to be the minimum of the capacity of the suspension and wheels/tires; I suspect this is because different differentials or ratios don't change the axle itself; but for instance with small tires like 195's they won't carry 2,750 even though the axle will.
So I'd say yes it (springs) could have to do with it because it's part of the suspension so they would have to be rated at least 2,750 to reach that high number.
I just Googled the stickers and looked at a bunch of '97's plus the ones posted here in various threads.

Look and see if there is a leaf spring code/part # stamped somewhere on one of the leaves.
