Is it possible to replace the small black mirrors with the large chrome mirrors on gen 1 & 2 rangers and B2's? I would think all doors are the same when it comes to door interior supports.

I would think you probably can...i bet some would suggest...swapping doors..but I would just change the inner mount brackets my self...

edit:....actually 2day, if it gets warm enuf I'm going to strip a pair of doors form an 88 ranger donor and I will be saving the inner brackets assuming they come out reasonably..i haven't seen whether the mounts are riveted or bolted..but i will know in about 3 hours or so...i also have a b2 with the small mirrors..which i like on that particular B2...but i want the inner brackets as well Just in case...

Yeah, it's those inner mounting brackets I was wondering about.

let me know how you get the bolt out of the bottom of the door for the mirror assembly. there is only the 4 bolts for the mirror a little screw behind the mirror and a big bolt on the bottom of the door. the one on the bottom has a rounded head on the inside so you cannot put anything on it and since its rounded it just spins for me so you might need to get a grinder and cut the bolt off.

about the mirror braket removal

I didn't realize i hadn't gotten back about my experience with this...

My doors had a little surface rust on the inner braket bottom mount blind-bolts..but a quick spray with some pb-blaster and an 11mm socket on my electric gun broke them right free...and then the 7mm socket on the outer screw also buzzed it right off...if that blind bolt broke loose inside for whatever reason..it looked like there would be room to get creative worst case..with some small vise grips etc..you could always use a cutting wheel and then go w a 1/4" bolt/nut combo..

the use of a powered source of some kind might work in our favor with them being a little rusty...kinda like an air hammer on some things? not sure..but anyway....I have two larger mirror brackets in hand for the next project....a little imagination would get them installed in a blank door I'm sure....

best wishes all with your projects..
