Hello, I bought a 1999 ranger 4.0 4wd 5 speed. Love it, so I went to put an alarm on it and the guy says my door pin isn't working. (I know, I can't find a door pin in the manual either.) the automatic lock does not unlock just locks. What do I need to do to fix this? Please help!!!! Door lock cylinder sound like what I'm after?

Not sure what a "door pin" is. Power locks that lock properly but don't unlock with the power function is almost always a bad actuator, if it is only a single door. It's easier to lock the door than unlock, because you push up to unlock. It's a gravity thing.

If it is both doors I would suspect the unlock relay is at fault.

Does your dome/courtesy light work? Ford uses a daffy powered pin that seems unique to the rest of the industry that seem to prefer ground fired pins.

there's a pin-style door ajar switch on my 97... basically sits below the latch and when it is open, the switch grounds out...
