Door Latch Problems

Hello everyone. I am a new Ranger owner. I just bought a 2001 XLT 2WD. I am having a problem with the door not latching well enought, No matter how hard I close the drivers door, it still seems to rattle. It does not close tight. I think the latch is bad. But I can not find any place that sells them other than the dealer. Am I correct that I need a new latch?? Thanks!

Have you tried adjusting the striker bar on the door jamb? Maybe it just needs to be repositioned.

if it's not latching you can try and spray it with silicone lube to free it up. mine had a problem of the latch staying open and my light wouldn't go off and it always said door ajar and spraying it fixed it for me.

Is it a supercab with the 4 doors? I see lots of them with the lower latch on the supercab doors that latch anymore causing them to rattle really badly.
