My door ajar light is always on. I was told that the door light switch is in the door, near the latch...? Is there a secret to remedy this other than flooding the latch area with a 1/2 gal of Liquid Wrench...? It's a 2002, 4-door, XLT.
Thanx for any input.
Charlie.

The door ajar sensor is part of the latch assembly.

You have a few options.

First, you can spray some lubricant into the latch opening, sometimes it helps.

Second, you can open the door up and splice the wires together so it thinks the door is always closed. But that will keep the door from tripping the dome light on as well.

Third, and my preferred option, you can get a new latch.

Yep, a very common problem. Solved it a couple of times with the WD-40 spray job. Got a '03' and noticed the light stayed on after closing it and thought it had the same problem. Found out its on a time delay, might be after market because of the remote start and alarm system.

Open your main doors on both sides. Grab the supercab doors at the bottom and pull, see if the lower latches are latching. They are usually seized up and not working causing the door ajar light.
