a body lift will not give you any more travel. it just raises the entire body of your truck and allows you to fit a bigger tire on there without the tires rubbing when your suspension is fully compressed. will a drop bracket or a spindle lift give you more travel? no. both just raise the front of your truck by moving points of the suspension lower. will the fox shocks give you more travel? no. your stock suspension (mainly the ball joints on the upper and lower arms) can't move much more without causing damage that can lead to them wearing out faster than usual. with the a-arm coil bucket rangers you have to remember for a long travel kit to be installed there is a lot of custom fabrication to the frame. an engine cage for you to mount your shocks to needs to be cut, bent, and welded. the coil bucket on the frame needs to be cut out, and the frame needs to be plated in to strengthen it back up.
my advice? save. everything costs money. looking for used kits can be a lot cheaper, and with some simple maintenance (replacing bushings or uniball pivots) can mean you have a kit that works like new again for $100's less. on my truck i have a fabtech 3" spindle, camburg racing coils used for their 5.5 suspension kit, uniball upper control arms from BTF fabrication (NODNARB on dezertrangers.com), and bilstein 5100 shocks also from the camburg racing 5.5 kit. the rear end is a work in progress, but it will be deaver springs' f-31 pre-run replacement leaf pack, and i'm collecting parts for a cantilever set up. after that, mid travel is my plan. i don't want or need long travel. check out
www.dezertrangers.com and read, read, read! read a lot, take a break for a soda, then read some more. before i even joined i lurked on that forum reading for months. if you join, remember to SEARCH before you start a new thread, and read the sticky in off topic about googling on DR to make searching easier. we over there hate getting the same question posted in 3 different threads on the first page of the forum lol
good luck, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. i have a build thread on this site for my truck, and on DR. same sn, same thread title on both sites. budget build since i'm a college student working 10-20 hours at 8.25 an hour. to give you a break down, this is what i spent so far:
front suspension:
camburg racing coils $40 used off of the race-dezert.com classifieds
fabtech 3" lift spindles $200 new off of craigslist
bilstein 5100 shocks $200 new from camburg racing
BTF uniball upper control arms $450 including limit strap mounting
10" limit straps $5 for both at a swapmeet
rear suspension:
deaver f-31 leaf spring pack $300 off of the race-dezert classifieds
2.25" sway away piggy back shocks $200 for both used from a swapmeet
6" extended shackles and 2" drop shackle hangers $120 from a friend at college who made a set for his truck too
miscellaneous:
32x11.5x15" bfg mud terrain tires: $500 barely used before i sold the s-10 lug pattern steel wheels they were mounted on (forget how much i sold them for)
custom front tube bumper and skid plate $450 and i traded some stock parts
custom rear tube bumper $50 used off of dezertrangers.com classifieds
adding it all up, thats $2,215. however, i have been collecing parts for 3 years. i had some parts sitting for a year before i installed them. i only got my front bumper built because i came into just enough money for the cost of it, and didnt save it. now, i live where it is a little easier to find these parts near to me. its going to cost more for you since you have to get everything shipped up there.
