I finally decided that I am going to do away with the STock Carb and Distributor and go to a Duraspark and Holley 350 Combo.....I have tried to tune this carb for the lasttime..I am done with it...I love my Ranger, but DAMN this is fustrating....

Have you looked into the fuel injection swap?

I was about to say, you pmed me asking for details on it, hope you got what I said.

Soon Im re-doing the fuel lines on mine making it only have one line go to the TBI unit and plug off the return and use a return regulator so that I can adjust my fuel even better then I can now but first see what my dads idea does for him first, hes just going to restrict the intake side of the fuel intlet on the TBI by half by putting an adaptor on it that has a tiny hole.

But to stay on topic, anything is better then the factory feedback carb on the rangers, theres not really much tuning you can do without doing mods to it.

If you don't like tuning you might wanna just stay away from the Holley. All the time all I hear about those is people complaining about having to tune them constantly. When they're right they're right, but one day it's perfect and the next it will hardly run.

Look up how to make the metering block for your stock carb and ditch all the electronic stuff. If you haven't rebuilt it it would be a good tie to do so and clean it out really well.

+1 If you want simple do the duraspark and put a motorcraft 2150 with a 1.08 venturi and #50 jets. I havent had to tweak my carb for a few months now. I had a flashback I was having to lift my hood at least once a day to get it to idle and always having to use two feet at a light to keep it running. It cost me about $130 for the complete ignition system and the carb is from either a late 70s pinto or mustang II or a 302 with a 1.08 venturi you can use the jets out of your carb. If your blowing smoke when you start it I recommend valve guide seals also. You can change them without pulling the heads it tells you how in the tech library under 2.8 V-6.
