New Gibson exhaust is noticeable in this one

I would love to take it off road, but it has enough trouble on road, I have no idea how I would do off road...

Throw a locker in the rear and you will go anywhere a stock 4x4 will go. And with good driving skills ive seen guys walk through places in a Locked 2x4 that 4x4's werent going. Personally, im in the process of lockers front and rear so :thefinger:

Oh damn, lucky, would it be sensible to get a locker for a 7.5? I want to do an 8.8 swap, didn't some of them come with a locker like thing?

looks like a...... nice girl? lol.. my girl would do the same thing.

get a rear locker and some good mud tires and u can do pretty decent offroad in a 2wd, just need to carry more momentum without the front wheels pulling, and also learn how to bump over stuff. you would definitely want to remove those lights under the front bumper if you start to do any serious offroading though

nice truck btw! i have the same exhaust, no where near as shiny anymore though

Well if your gonna get an 8.8, then get an 8.8 and a locker. I have looked at your truck enough to know that it has a 7.5, oh well. And some 8.8's came with a limited slip, or LS. And they are not the same thing. After a couple hundred miles most LS's are just as worn out and act like an open. A locker actually hooks up the axles.

That truck probably wouldn't do too bad offroad. You've got decent ground clearance and all-terrain tires so you'd probably be alright. Just use common sense and know what not to try. I wheel most of the time in 2wd just for the fun of it and can get through quite a bit. It's basically 50% truck and 50% driver skill.

personally i disagree with that, if you pull up to a vertical rock ledge, and without a front tire pulling u up it, those rear tires are just gonna spin in the dirt.. i try everything 2wd (locked), before i lock the front hubs, just for hahas.. and especially in snow, with just rear tires powered, the fronts have to plow snow and cant dig through..

Yeah, I had another cheaper set under there and lost one when hitting something. I'm sure if i would do more off roading i would take them off. Don't worry I'm sure my exhaust will look old soon enough, its been on for 3 weeks.

sorry if it seems like I have been putting alot of pics up...

Once again thanks for all the help, and I think I'm going to do the 8.8 swap, which kind of locker would be best, and I'm also thinking of doing 5.13s too.

What you all think?

I agree, I took my dads 2wd ranger with tiny 195/75-14s open diff up a spot that my friend with a 4wd solid axle yota with 31" BFG ATs couldn't go :taunt:

But yeah throw a locker in the back and it will surprise the hell outta you where it will go.
8.8 locker I would get the no-slip, supposed to be super smooth.

I'm kinda new to lockers, there are air and electric? What kind would be best for a swap? and for the 8.8 since if I'm going to, I would like the get a newer rear from an explorer to get the disc, how much more work is it to make those brakes work with the old system?

I used to wheel in a 2wd until I could buy my Ranger. It was an S-10 Blazer with a limited slip stock and street tires, and I could get that through places that my buddies double open diff. full size Bronco would get stuck in. Might have had something to do with weight though. 3500 pounds floats over mud a lot easier than 6000 pounds.

Yeah, I think last time I was at the dump where you have to get on the scales, with me and my g/f (300 lbs) un-loaded I was pushing close to 4000, but thats still alot better then 6000

There are also automatic lockers and lunchbox automatic lockers which install in place of the spider gears such as the lock-right and no-slip. Expect to pay around $550 for a detroit locker (automatic), and $600+ for ARBs (selectable air locker). Luncbox lockers range from $250 to $450.
Maybe check this out :icon_thumby:

Hey thanks, that looks like its got alot of helpful stuff in it. too many choices haha

Hey the pictures aint the problem, I really like your truck. You could go with air or electric but that involves modifying the axle housing. Personally I would go with a lunchbox locker like the Powertrax Lock-Right or something like an Aussie.
