Why does my OLD Taurus seem to pull harder?

First off it can't all be the gears, But I'm sure the clutch fan and RWD takes it's toll on the little Vulcan. My 97 Taurus with 166,000 miles feels like it pulls harder than my Ranger, which only has 45,000 miles. Another thing that throws me off is that the Ranger has 10 more HP.
 
Lighter car with probably a sportier/peaker intake and tune vs a truck that is tuned more for low end power... and probably gearing too.
 
I doubt it, 96-99 were the heaviest of the Mid-size Tauruses. 2nd, it's hardly sporty, lol. It has the same Vulcan intake from way back in 1986!
