I dont have the money to get new tires yet, but when i do i want to go thru Treadwright. Sucks they dont have 33" :/

But i was wondering about how kedge grip is. I get some good ice here in canada, so it would make a good difference. But im worried they would wear out fast? Start falling apart as the glass or whatever starts to come out? Does any of this happen?

If they wear the same as normal non-kedge grip ones, i definately am going to get them. But if they last half as long ill just go normal lol. BTW, this is my DD

Their website says 10-20% I think

Ok, i looked a little more and found the answer. Was in a different section then where i was looking before. Here u go guys

Kedge Grip provides additional traction in slippery conditions. It does this by creating small pits on the tread surface with the walnut shell and adding additional grit to the tread with the crushed glass. With the additional open area on the tread the tire will wear about 15-20% faster than a tire without Kedge Grip.

I'd run those in the winter only, and have a 2nd set of tires/wheels to use for the rest of the year.

Hes in Saskatchewan. Winter lasts 8-9 months there... lol

Unless you put a lot of highway km on them, I'd just run 'em year round.

True...it snowed yesterday. Fricking almost April! Anyways...Daven I'm just wondering when you'll get those...I am wanting some Treadwright tires as well. Shipping to the states is about 7-8 times cheaper then shipping to the states. Just wondering what your plan is for that? Also are retread tires legal in Sask? Me and my dad have an on going argument about it haha

First, yes they say that they put walnut shells to break away as the tire wears leaving little cresses for more grip or something. And glas in it for more traction in slippery situations

And omg... lol yesterday is snowed a good deal here im Moose Jaw. Friggen was slippery. I was out doing deliveries all night and i could get going, stop or turn worth a damn in the minivan i have for a company vehicle lol.

The tires i wont be getting for a while now. I still need to get the rear leaf springs for the rear lift and put that on. And i was hoping to get 33" tires, but they dont make them for some stupid reason. But later on a few months down the road ill be getting probably the 31"s and just run my 4" lift for now. I think before i had priced the shipping out to something around the 170 mark, but that was a while ago now and i cant be totally sure (was for 4 tires). I just selected the tires i was gonna get and went thru the checkout until it told me the total price lol.

Im not sure on the laws for it. I havent heard anything... Wouldnt care to much anyways lol. (Also, anyone know why they would be illegal? Safety issue or something?)

Sorry i couldnt answer many of your questions lol. Gotta get the cash together yet. I just ran across this and thought i'd ask and see

some places are really picky. the treadwrights are safe, i know a lot of people that run them on a DD, i plan on it as well.. hoping they have some 33's by the time i'm done with my axle swap..

Treadwrights are 100% DOT-approved in the USA, and they are not the same as old style retreads. These are practically new tires...
Also, big rigs run retread tires all the time, I couldn't see why you can't run them on a passenger car. I believe the only laws on retread tires refer to commercial transportation vehicles, like buses and taxis, If Saskatchewan even has laws about that.

Yeah I think it should be good. But if I pick it up I can see the customs and border people making a deal about it. They are dumb sometimes. You guys could get 285/75/16's...there basically 33's. I checked shipping on four 315/75/16s and it is only $114 I am mistaken I guess haha. Its the Goodyear Duratracs I wanna run in winter that will be costly

If you do a lot of driving in the snow, I highly advise real snow tires. I know Duratracs are M/S tires with the snowflake symbol, and even pinned for studs, but they are still made with an all-season rubber compound, which starts to freeze up and lose its flexibility below 7 degrees C.

below 7 degrees C.

i'm glad that's you buddy.. and not me!
but yeah, i've read that a lot..
but for the price of treadwrights.. i'd have to try it!

mine has the Kedge Grip (used to be called "Green Diamond"). 4 years and close to 40k miles and still have about half the tread left. i run them year round. have had them on several long trips of 1600+ miles and also as my dd going 60 miles to and from work a couple of days a week. also many weekend trips of over 300 miles. i think they are fine as dd tires. at least the E-rated AT's i'm running.

I would get the studded...the pattern looks all terrain-y in the middle and I think would do pretty decent. I still want some luggy tires so I can get through deep snow that we get here in Saskatchewan. Studded duratracs would be a major upgrade from the mud tires I usually run...mud tires on ice and snow = zero traction. Downright dangerous
