The emergency brake on my 04 Edge 2wd easily goes all the way to the floor when I push it in. On my old 1990 Ranger, it was adjusted so that I only pushed it about 3/4 the way down for it to be set. This is how it was on my 86 Bronco too.
On both those older trucks I remember there was an adjusting device on the cable underneath between the driver's door and the rear wheel. It would control the tension on the parking brake cable. I cannot find anything like it on my 04, did Ford stop putting these on the cables?
I will try to tackle my rear brakes again soon. last time I was able to get the new pads on, but could not get the drum back over them, despite having the adjuster all the way in. Someone had suggested that my parking brake cable was frozen, but it does not seem so. Any sure way to check this without removing the cables?
