does anyone know when the rangers first started having the limited slip rear end??????? or what years and models had it? thnks

If you need to know if yours has one, check out the Axle Code on the door jam sticker and compare it to the article in the Tech Section.

Not %100 sure but I would think it started on Job One of the Ranger production in 1983.

Yeah, but the early ones, 83-85 were (optionally) equipped with a Borg-Warner
"Cone type" limited slip axle that now a days we know (and despise) as the "auburn" limited slip.

the more familar "S-Spring" multi-disc clutch limited slip made it's debut in late 1985.

The Torsen worm gear diff was introduced in what? 2001? and then only in the FX4 rangers.

I had one on my '84' BII, had to order the rear full size tire carrier because of it.
