the black plug in the picture, its directly behind the engine in the center of the firewall, and its sourounded by the plugs for the o2 sensors and the reverse light sensor, but i havnt been able to figure out what it is or where it goes, and im worried that it might be the reason why my check engine light is popping on. im pretty sure i disconnected it when i removed my transmission but i cant find out what to plug it back into.

might be wrong here but i believe that is youre netural safety switch connects on the side of the trans

i think that only aplies to automatic, and mine is a manual trans, does anyone have anymore guesses?

does anyone have any other ideas?, it has two wires oing to it, and i cant figure it out.

I have an idea, why don't you scan your ECU and find out why the CEL is coming on instead of searching your truck for issues? Didn't you previously post you had a lean code??? You most likely have a vacuum leak, like a bad intake gasket, stuck IAC, cracked intake hose, leaking brake booster, dryrotted vacuum lines, loose/broken oil cap, etc... the list goes on.

As for the plug:
Make sure your reverse lights work. IIRC there are 2 plugs on the M5OD-R1, one on top and one on the drivers side.

well, if i got the lean code, dont you think i might have allready scanned the ecu and got the cel's. even so, these codes are pretty vague, so now i am scanning the engine for any kind of visual problems, but thanks for the advise.

Maybe your truck used to be auto? Or have you had it since new?

no, i picked it up used. i have no idea what the previous owners have done to it, and im completely new to learning about autos in general. so im trying to get all of the advise i can, because its been runnin a little rough and the check engine light has been coming on. yeah it seems like that connector may have gone to a sensor on an automatic trans, thanks for the idea.

According to my book those are the converter clutch solenoid and the 3-4 shift solenoid, neither of which your truck has.

When I issues like that I get out the wiring manaual and start looking for the color of wires: you will find it and learn a few others along the way!!
