if you are looking at a car sales magazine, if there is a picture of the drivers side bed, the gas tank door is very close to the front edge of the bed on a 6 foot bed. it is nearly centered between the front edge of the bed and the wheel well on a 7 foot bed. hope this helps.

I think so. But the standard wheelbase of 92 Ford Ranger is 125 inches on the extended cab, 113.9 inches on the regular cab long bed and 107.9 inches on the regular cab short-bed.

To clarify AllanD's answer and add to it by pointing out what should be obvious, the answer to the OP's question depends entirely on whether or not the truck in question has a 6 or 7 foot bed.

How is any of that helpful? If he can measure the wheel base wouldn't it be easier to measure the bed?
