There's a guy in Nichols NY who wants to trade me his 1995 Dodge Avenger 2.5 Auto for my truck, it's got 126k and power locks/windows along with Cruise.

Think I should go check it out? I don't know what MPG these get, but I don't think it's good so it might not be worth my trouble/truck. I'm guessing around 18-25?

The interior looks clean and so does the body, but that's from small craigslist sized pictures. I'm going to see if I can get him to send some higher resolution ones soon. He say's it runs good. I'd still have to go look though.

had a 97 3.0 auto ,loved it.
have to keep the maintence up on the auto trans or it'll puke.
engine was mitsubishi.
don't know abut the 4 cyl.

don't do it, I had a 95 sebring, a friend had a 96 avenger, although when it ran it ran ok and got good mileage, the parts were not cheap and both cars were always getting repaired. the sebring in the first 3 months with 130,000 miles on it needed struts half shafts, upper and lower control arms, I think it also needed the trans but I gave the car away before I ever found out. There was something wrong with the motor but never had it checked and could never found it but after talking to a uncle he said that 2.5 was not a good motor.

Yeah, I checked the properties of the images he sent me, the pictures were from around September and he had no plates on it. If he hasn't been driving it in the past few months I'm going to be very cautious about it. I'm already thinking it's going to be a no for me, I value the truck with KBB at around 1,000. My trucks worth something in the 15-1800 Range.

my 95 after I got it before doing any work it cost 1500

sorry first time adding an image, best thing with the car was it had an infinity stereo in it but otherwise I say stick with the ranger and maybe find something better than a sebring/avenger

Dont Do It. The avengers were crap, and the new ones are also. At Hertz our Mid-sized fleet consisted of Mazda6's and Avengers. We had 2 avengers drop tranny's before either hit 5,000 miles, and most of the rest of them have electrical problems at some point or another.

I agree. Dodge builds a lot of junk. They still use PLASTIC ball joints. Run, Forest, run!!

Anyone also remember the problems with the steering wheels? They were secured very cheaply to the column and would often rip off. Had it happen to 2 of my friends. I swore off Avengers at that point.

At work we had a customer in a wreck in Glacier Park in a 2008 Avenger because while driving through the curves the steering wheel locked. He said It locked in place as if there was no key in it. He slammed the brakes and hit a gaurdrail. Must be their new system to "secure" it.

I told the guy I'm going to keep looking for something newer with less miles.

Thanks for all the information.

Good move.

If I had an Avenger, I'd be willing to trade for your Ranger too! :icon_bounceblue:
