Do transmission mounts include the rubber strip bushings? (1987 ford ranger 2.9L A4LD)

Hi everyone.

so my auto transmission jerks hard inconsistently and I took a look underneath and the rubber strips on the transmission mount are cracked and it looks like they’ve shrunk in size.

I looked for replacements but I can’t only find the entire transmission mount assembly. There aren’t any additional pictures of this specific part number anywhere online. Does anyone know if the rubber strips are already included in the mount? I’d like to know so I don’t waste resources if I only need to replace the rubber strips.

Thanks guys!

That's the point of replacing that. It's all one piece.

Yup, it’s a whole piece and that rubber is bonded to the steel. You need a whole new mount. They usually aren’t bad to replace for the trans, unbolt it, jack the trans up off the mount and swap.

The thing to think about is that if the trans mount looks like that… the motor mounts probably do as well and you should replace those too, which are a little more work but you can do it without pulling the motor.

that’s good to know. Thanks everyone for the input I appreciate it. I’ll order the part and go ahead and change it!
