I'm thinking of maybe mounting a pair of lights behind my grille, like some KC hilites or something. I have a honeycomb grille from an Edge, so I don't think it'll block out much light. However, I'm just worried about them getting too hot and melting the plastic.

They do get hot, but as far as I know there are some people who have used KC's and they've been fine. Lots of people use 55watt Hella 500's and don't have problems.

They get warm. But I don't think they get hot enough to melt anything.

to many people have done it with all different kinds of lights..

i mean, a lot of them are plastic housings-- and they don't melt (even tho that is the rear lol)

You should be just fine, just make sure they don't touch the grille.

My 130watt procomp lights did melt the covers off when left on over night tho.....whoops.

I would say any 55-watt (or any HID or LED type) light and you'll be fine.

A 100W or better light I wouldn't tempt fate with.

Get the big KC's and leave the covers on accidentally. They WILL melt shit.

yes, 100+ watt and up lights will melt anything they touch. But regular 55 watt (legal wattage) don't get get more than warm, at least mine don't.
