I have a 2006 Ranger that I swapped a 4.0 SOHC into my Ranger that HAD a 2.3 and supposedly, according to a shop I have it at. I need a new ECU as that's what's keeping this from cranking and probably running (they will not do any work on it until I get them an ECU, the vehicle was a fleet vehicle so it didn't come with PATs, and I can't find an aftermarket ECU seller that can remove PATs from the ECU). I've been trying to research what I can and see stuff about how the dash and ECU are married together, regardless if the vehicle has the PATs system or no?
Is that correct?
Would it just be less of a hassle at this point to do a standalone ECU, if so, anyone have any suggestions?
This whole issue has me at my wits end and I'm about to just burn this darn thing to the ground
