I just took my 86 ranger 4x4 to get aligned. It has a 4.5 inch lift. They said that toe was maxed out and still .55(way off). WOuld a larger pitman solve this issue. Note I bought the truck already lifted. I think the arm is stock, it looks more rectagular whereas the skyjacker etc. ones are rounded.

If it is the stock arm, you need the dropped arm.

Can you snap a picture of your steering linkage?

Only way is custom steering linkage or a pitman arm, pitmarm being the easiest and cheapest.

looks like a drop pitman arm to me.

Next bet is to go to a FA600 arm or whole steering system.

Is it toed in or out?

Ok, from the picture you put up, it looks like they have the adjusters on tie rods all the way in...which means you can adjust them out to get the toe into spec.

You need to take care of the camber and get it into spec as well, as that can cause weird issues with the toe while driving forwards and backwards.

A full frontal shot of the axle would've been better, but I can still see the linkage's angle is out of line with your axle.

The Skyjacker #FA600 arm should take care of that no problem.

If it's toed out and there is no more adjustment to toe it in, you probably have D35 steering linkage ( which is wider ) on your D28. And yes, a longer pitman arm will help alot too.
